We had an amazing time in Brussels! Lots to see and we saw most of it in our 10 hour layover! Hahaha. I made Austin go on a tour bus, outside on the second level, in the cold but it was worth it. I haven't been able to upload pictures... But as soon as I can I will. The internet isn't as predictable as I had hoped so this might not happen every day.
The entrance into Tel Aviv was just about as difficult as I thought. We told them we weren't sure where we were staying because the last thing they want to hear is that we are staying in Bethlehem. We ended up being pulled into a room and questioned separately. We had to explain why we were there, how we knew Drew, how we knew each other, what we did for a living. I actually had a couple laughs with the guy about his wife's cooking and his diet. But it still felt like we weren't going to make it in. When they brought into another room to wait, Austin and I felt pretty anxious. But it was 1am, 4am your time, and we could feel your prayers. Within just a few minutes they came back out with our passports and let us in. It was amazing.
Seeing Drew and Char at the entrance was wonderful!!! Austin and Drew embraced for a long time. It was precious. We had an hour drive through Jerusalem and into Palestine. I have already learned so much about this culture just from Drew and Char's narratives of the neighborhoods. We are going to have dinner with their church group in Jerusalem tonight. It is crazy windy here. Has been for a few days. I can barely see the houses in the valley outside the window. Some sort of desert wind storm. Very cool. Sorry I don't have more to share but I will keep you all updated as we start this next week.
